Joint Statement on Support for the JCPOA

Det är för Sverige och övriga EU mycket viktigt att Iran inte lämnar kärnenergiöverenskommelsen JCPOA. Arbetet för att upprätthålla överenskommelsen leds av de s.k. E3-länderna (Tyskland, Storbritannien och Frankrike) och EU (genom dess utrikestjänst EEAS), som tillsammans med Kina, Ryssland och Iran är kvar som parter till JCPOA. JCPOA:s Joint Commission, som består av överenskommelsens parter, träffas i Wien idag den 28 juni under ledning av EU:s utrikestjänst.
Inför detta möte gör Sverige följande gemensamma uttalande med en grupp andra EU-länder:
Austria, Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden attach the utmost importance to the preservation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA), signed by Iran and unanimously endorsed by the UN Security Council, as a key instrument for the non-proliferation regime and a major contribution to stability in the region. Aware of the difficulties to implement the economic part of the agreement, we are working with France, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as with the European External Action Service and the European Commission, to establish channels to facilitate legitimate trade and financial operations with Iran, one of the foremost of these initiatives being the establishment of Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX). In that context, it is crucial for the Islamic Republic of Iran to abide by and fully respect the terms and provisions of the nuclear agreement.
