Gemensamt uttalande av Sverige och fem andra länder om stöd för JCPOA

Det är för Sverige och övriga EU mycket viktigt att Iran inte lämnar kärnenergiöverenskommelsen JCPOA. Arbetet för att upprätthålla överenskommelsen leds av de s.k. E3-länderna (Tyskland, Storbritannien och Frankrike) och EU (genom dess utrikestjänst EEAS), som tillsammans med Kina, Ryssland och Iran är kvar som parter till JCPOA. Instrument in Support of Trade Exchange (INSTEX) är en viktig del av EU:s gemensamma ansträngningar i detta syfte. INSTEX bedriver verksamhet för att underlätta betalningar i samband med legitim handel mellan Europa och Iran.
Mot denna bakgrund gör Sverige följande uttalande tillsammans med en grupp andra EU-länder och Norge.
“Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden attach the utmost importance to the preservation and full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) on Iran’s nuclear programme by all parties involved. The nuclear agreement was unanimously endorsed by the UN Security Council and is a key instrument for the global non-proliferation regime and a major contribution to stability in the region.
In light of the continuous European support for the agreement and the ongoing efforts to implement the economic part of it and to facilitate legitimate trade between Europe and Iran, we are now in the process of becoming shareholders of the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX) subject to completion of national procedures.
In this context, it is crucial for the Islamic Republic of Iran to return without delay to full compliance with the terms and provisions of the nuclear agreement.”
