Summary

In July 2009, the Government decided to appoint an independent Parliamentary Committee to examine the connection between circular migration and development. The Committee's task is to map out circular migration and identify the factors that influence migrants' opportunities to circulate, i.e. to move from Sweden to their countries of origin as well as back to Sweden again. An interim report presenting the findings of the initial survey was released in May 2010. The main findings are summarized in this fact sheet. Proposals and impact assessments will be presented in a final report in late March 2011.
